As I see, social media has been gradually changing the way candidates lauch their campaign. As a candidate, you have no reason to ignore that change, otherwise your opponents will take advantage of that change, and you will be washed out in the evolutionary stage of social media. However, what remains unchanged in the political process is that traditional mass media are still a dominant place that each candidate wants to compete for each slice of it. As citizens who have been relied on traditional mass media channel as their major source to receive information and “participate” in the political process now have different alternatives to do that, in a more participatory and convenient way, and that is social media platform. But there are still lots of evidence to show that traditional media channel are still their first-choice to engaged in the political process.
